DHL have launched their GoGreen project to reduce the environmental impact in their activities, also thanks to a customer voluntary contribution on shipping costs, allowing to reduce climate-damaging CO2 emissions generated in the transportation and storage of goods.
DHL’s GoGreen Climate Neutral shipping service helps calculating and offsetting carbon dioxide emissions on shipments through certified climate protection projects thus creating a positive impact on the environment as well as creating social development. The GOGREEN climate neutral emission calculations cover transport-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and offsetting data for individual shipments, including suppliers’ shipments.
Business customers like GREENERIA who use DHL’s climate neutral shipping service receive a certificate from DHL once a year. The GHG are verified by the Swiss-based auditor Société Générale de Surveillance SA (SGS), the official auditors of the World Bank. This is in accordance with the global, cross-industry “GHG Protocol for Products” standard. The certificate is accepted in the Company’s
annual sustainability report.
DHL’s Green Optimization team analyse customers’ entire logistics chain, and work with them to improve and optimise trade routes and transportation modes to reduce their carbon footprint.
